The prestigious Keeneland September Yearling Sale begins today, with a remarkable 4,642 hips cataloged for the 12-day sale. A marathon of thoroughbred sales and horse shopping, the Keeneland sale demands experience, patience, and a sharp eye for identifying the right young horses.

Working closely with mentor Tom Amoss, Kinnon LaRose and the Kinnon LaRose Racing team are ready to put in the work and search the sale for the next prospects to join the program.

“We’re excited to find the next big prospects here,” said LaRose. “Keeneland does a tremendous job putting this sale together.”

A Team Approach to Finding the Right Thoroughbred

LaRose has assembled a team of five trusted horsemen and industry professionals who will shop the entire Keeneland yearling sale, evaluating horses throughout the extensive catalog and leaving no stone unturned in the search for future racing prospects.

For LaRose, the goal isn't simply to buy expensive horses. It is about identifying athletic, well-built thoroughbreds with the pedigree and physical qualities to develop into successful racehorses.

“We look for athletic horses, maybe not top dollar, but those that have good pedigree and are built properly,” LaRose said.

Proven Keeneland Sales Success

The Kinnon LaRose Racing program already has a strong connection to the Keeneland Sales. Previous Keeneland purchases and graduates of the program include Graded Stakes entries Midnight Still (G1),Oscar’s Hope(G2), Modo ( and Virabhadrasana (Saratoga MSW Winner).

With proven success from the Keeneland sales ring already part of the program's foundation, LaRose and his team head into this year's sale looking for the next generation of racing prospects.

Over 12 days and thousands of yearlings, the challenge is finding the horses that stand out, not necessarily because they carry the highest price tag, but because they possess the qualities that can make them successful racehorses.
