Virabhadrasana Returns for Keeneland Fall Meet Opening Day

Virabhadrasana returns to the starting gate on Opening Day of the Keeneland Fall Meet this Friday, stepping up to Allowance company for the first time following an impressive maiden victory at Saratoga.

The 2-year-old filly by Jackie’s Warrior made her career debut on August 1 at Saratoga Race Course, facing a competitive Maiden Special Weight field. After gaining valuable experience in her first start, Virabhadrasana returned four weeks later and delivered a strong performance, winning her Maiden Special Weight by 2½ lengths.

Now, Virabhadrasana will take the next step in her development by making her third career start at Keeneland. The filly is entered in Friday’s third race, a six-furlong dirt Allowance, the same distance over which she earned her first career victory at Saratoga.

Virabhadrasana enters the race as the even-money morning-line favorite, with Irad Ortiz Jr. set to make his first mount since August 22. Ortiz will return to the saddle aboard the promising filly for her first start in Allowance company.
