Kinnon LaRose Interview After 1st Win with Twin Spires

For Kinnon LaRose, a career in Thoroughbred racing started with one email and a goal of learning from one of the industry’s best.

After graduating from Sacred Heart University, LaRose reached out to veteran trainer Tom Amoss, explaining that he wanted to become a trainer and learn how to build a successful racing operation.

That email changed the course of his career.

LaRose eventually met Amoss at Keeneland, where he watched him win multiple races and knew he had found the path he wanted to pursue. Years later, LaRose is taking over the day-to-day training operation in Barn 29, building on the foundation laid under Amoss.

A Full-Circle Moment at Keeneland

The transition comes after a memorable Keeneland meet for LaRose, highlighted by two victories in one weekend, his first with LFGO Racing and another the following day with a recently claimed horse for Maggie Moss.

“It’s all kind of crazy how it comes full circle,” LaRose said.

For LaRose, the opportunity to lead an established operation with a strong history is both an honor and a responsibility. He credits Amoss, the owners, and his support system for giving him the confidence to take the next step.

As LaRose prepares for the Churchill Downs meet and beyond, he enters this new chapter with the lessons, mentorship and experience gained over years alongside Amoss.

One email started the journey. Now, Kinnon LaRose is building the next chapter of his career as a Thoroughbred trainer.
