A career that began as a hot walker at Keeneland came full circle when Kinnon LaRose celebrated his first victory as a Thoroughbred trainer.
LaRose earned his first training win at Keeneland, the same place where his racing career began six years ago, when he worked as a hot walker for mentor Tom Amoss.
“It’s awesome. It’s kind of hard to describe,” LaRose said following the race. “For it to happen at Keeneland, this is kind of where it all started for me.”
LaRose was quick to recognize the people who helped him reach the winner’s circle, crediting Amoss and the owners who have supported his journey.
“Tom and all the owners have been so supportive of me and give me every opportunity in the world,” he said.
The emotional celebration between LaRose and Amoss highlighted the significance of the milestone and the mentorship behind it.
